Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Who is Jesus?

The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod believes Jesus is exactly who He said He is. Along with the ancient Church, we confess that Jesus is true God and true man in one person. He is the Son of God who was crucified and raised from the dead for the salvation of all who trust in Him.

Jesus physically died on a cross and physically rose from the dead in three days. He physically ascended into heaven, and the Church awaits His second coming when He will judge all people.

Those who trust in Jesus as their Savior will rise to eternal life in heaven. Those who deny Jesus and live in their sin will be cast out of His presence to hell

Our Missionaries

Dr. Martin and Marie Dicke serve the Lord through The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) as career missionaries in Papua New Guinea. In this role, Martin teaches worship and music at Timothy Lutheran Seminary, Birip. Along with pastors and musicians of the Gutnius Lutheran Church, he works to update and develop additional worship resources for the church in the languages of the valley. He also leads workshops to help train musicians and worship leaders in various aspects of worship and music and partners with musicians of local churches in whatever ways he can. As time allows, he works with local Lutheran schools and their teachers to bring more music into their curriculums.

Martin was born and grew up on the mission field in the Enga Province of Papua New Guinea. He is a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Peoria, Ill., where he served as Cantor from 2002-2016. He received a bachelor’s degree in music from Concordia University, St. Paul (Minn.), a Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting from the University of Iowa, Iowa City.
